ADIRAMA BEACH HOTEL AND RESTAURANT: SURROUNDINGS
North Bali has treasures
Away from the hustle and bustle you can enjoy the tranquility and the charm of the local folklore. You can walk on the beach, fish, take a bicycle ride,go to the village or talk with the neighbours. You can snorkel off the hotel beach!
The bay is calm, the fishermen are still fishing in a traditional way, the local people are quiet and friendly. They will let you participate in their hindu ceremonies, will like you to have a look at their yearly bull races, full moon celebrations or whatever is going on at that moment there.
From here you can discover the beauties of the region, through diving, snorkeling, sailing, and of course with special excursions. All of which is possible with the help of our very friendly staff.
Ceremonies
Bali has many ceremonies . . .
Dolphins
You can go and watch dolphins every morning!
Diving and Snorkeling
Bali is a good place for diving and snorkeling.
There is a coral reef a few hundred meters from our beach. Snorkeling equipment is available for hire at the reception. Take a look at our section snorkeling and diving .
We know a good recommendable diving school, have a look at: www.balispicedive.com.
Sailing and Fishing
Sailing from your own beachstep in a traditional sailing boat? Or maybe you would like to go with the fishermen? Information available at the reception.
Transport
For a bit of adventure we recommend a ride with the “Bemo” (the typical balinese public transport). Otherwise we advise you to hire a car with driver for your daytrips or rides. At the reception we organise this at a reasonable price (around 30 euro’s for a whole day) and the driver is always willing to wait for you wherever you stop. Car hire is unwise because of the much higher costs and insurances involved.
Singaraja / Lovina
Singaraja is the biggest town in the Lovina area and was until 1956 the capital city of Bali. The colourful local market, the chinese temple, museums, old library, quite unique for its collection of Lantar books (written on palm leaves) the old harbour, are all worth visiting. The dutch influence is here still noticeable. Lovina center is situated aproximately 1.5 kilometer from the hotel. There you find shops, cafe’s, restaurants, an internet-cafe and a small market.
Pupuan
Pupuan is about one hour leisurely drive from the hotel. Admire the pittoresque views over the rice terraces so typical of Bali. A unique sightseeing that you can break up with a lunch at the Sanda restaurant, tastefully laid out amidst the scenery. Munduk is also very worthwhile to visit.
Hotsprings and Budist Monastery
These jewels are for you to discover, only 15 minutes away.
Bratan
At more then 1000 meter above sea level and about one hour away from Adirama, you will find lake Bratan. It is always fun to stop on the way and feed the colonies of apes with nuts and bananas.
The hindu temple of Bratan lies in the lake. There is also a buddhist temple closeby. Here you find a special tranquility and a gentle coolness . In the vicinity is of course a market offering a variety of tropical fruits and nuts, wood carvings, sarongs and other souvenirs.
Menjangan
In the extensive region of the Bali Barat National Park lies the island of Menjangan. The park is a good hour drive from Adirama. The island is a reserve and owes its name “ Deer Island” to the wild javanese deers grazing in the open savannahs. It is one of the most famous snorkeling and diving spots in Bali.
The reef is a protected conservation area and the variety of colorful corals and fish is breathtaking. For the birdwatchers among you: this is an important sanctuary for multitudinous birds.
In addition to snorkeling and diving you can: have a picnic on the beach, take a walk to the old temples or go and visit the bat caves by boat.
Furthermore, the national park offers possibilities for jungletracking and rafting , all of which under supervision of well trained guides.
Batur
A visit to the Batur volcano will start at around 3:00 a.m driving away from the hotel. Once there you will climb the volcano with a guide and your effort will be rewarded with a sunrise, overlooking the 3200 meter high Gunung Agung. Agung is a sacred mountain and is, for the balinese, what the Olympus was for the old greeks: the Cosmic Mount. The balinese consider this mountain as the “anat umbilicus” of the world and sleep always with their head in the direction of mount Agung.
Finally you will walk down again to lake Batur: the volcanic lake is surrounded by beautiful old temples.
Of course you can always make a daytrip to Batur; whether you climb it or not, it is more than worth the view and the visit to various temples.
Git-Git Waterfalls
About thirty minutes driving south of Singaraja, you will find the most spectacular waterfalls of Bali. A pleasant walk (aprox. 600 mtr.) through the coffee, cloves and vanilla plantages will take you there. Cool down in the lagune at the foot of the impressive 15 meter high waterfall.
Golf
Bali is a very special place to play golf.
